Original drawings, prints and more from Scotland

Carol Baines Art
I’m an independent local artist living in Edinburgh, Scotland.
I love working with pencil to create detailed illustrations with a focus on nature. More recently I’ve taken inspiration from Scottish flora, fauna and seascapes, enjoying the painterly effect I can create using soft pastels.
You’ll find a range of prints, calendars and cards for sale on my Etsy shop as well as original one-off pieces. I’m always happy to discuss commissions, just get in touch.
“I take my inspiration from everything I see around me in nature.“

About Me
I was born and raised in Elderslie, Scotland and have been drawing ever since I could pick up a pencil.
I studied print making, drawing and painting at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen from 1978 to 1982. After a year gaining experience working in a psychiatric hospital, I moved to St Albans to complete a Post Graduate Dipolma in Art Therapy.
Since 1984 I have lived, worked, and raised my family in Edinburgh with some doodling here and there in between.
In the year 2000 I started my “real job” in the NHS as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant Practitioner.
Now semi-retired, I have more time to be creative. As well as creating original artwork inspired by Scottish nature, I also run online art tutorials; from workplace teambuilding sessions with organisations such as the National Library and the NHS, to fortnightly classes provided through Chief Radio Scotland.
